After the Party...

Thank you to all Club Members and Guests who attended The 36th Annual
2019 President's Ball.  By all accounts it was a great success!  Approximately
150 attendees enjoyed a full evening.

The Clubhouse 5 "Ballroom" was lavishly decorated from floor to ceiling
by volunteers.  Upon arriving guests made their way to the entrance under

clouds of festive lights, then greeted at the front door by Club officials
(& spouses) John & Annette Soule along with Paul Santoro and Pat Thatcher.

Each arriving lady was presented with a very long stem red rose.  Upon
entering the main ballroom each couple had their photograph taken by our
resident professional photographer Peter Battin. These photos will be
available in the near future via a link on this website.

Guests then enjoyed a full hosted open bar, a great sounding orchestra
and a fantastic complete dinner, preceded by circulating appetizers, all
catered by Jolanda's Catering.
Bottled wines were provided at each table
for the rest of the evening

The dance floor was quite busy for most of the evening before and after dinner.
Who knew golfers could dance?  Actually there were some real dancers there
who happened to also play golf.

After dinner Board Officers made presentations to major tournament winners
from 2018.

You can see the photos from the Ball HERE

   2018 VILLAGE CUP

The annual 27 hole Village Cup was held Nov 21st at LWGC.  This team competition pitted an International team comprised of non-USA born players against the hometown USA-born players in a Ryder Cup like match play event.

The first 9 holes played as a "Foursome" with 2-man teams facing off in an alternate shot format; cumulative low net score wins the match (team gets 1 pt.)  The second 9 holes played as a "Four Ball" match with each holes best net team score winning that hole: match win =1 pt.  The final 9 holes are played as two individual matches - each match winner scores 1 pt.

The cumulative scores for each 20 man team are tallied to determine the winner of "the Village Cup".  This year the USA team bested the International team to win back the Village Cup Trophy... Congratulations Team USA.  Following the end of play both teams joined together to enjoy a buffet lunch prepared by Tony's Club 19.

LWMGC Joins the
Orange County Silver Seniors
Golf League

Thanks to the efforts of Jeff Shetler and others our club will be forming a team of up to 24 players to compete in home and away match play events.  For each event our club will field 12 players from the 24 man roster to play head-to-head against a similar team from one of Orange County's prestigious private clubs.

The season begins in February and runs into June for a season ending tournament at Mesa Verde CC.

Watch the following linked presentation for an overview of this fun and challenging golf series.

2017 Annual Derby - 38 Players - 19 Teams
The November Annual Derby Largest in 2017
The Derby was a big success in November with 19 teams teeing off for an exciting time for all.  For the golfers who take part
most say it is one of the best Men's Club events.  The format is simple, high handicappers are paired with low ones to form two
man teams.  Then it's alternate shot until the ball is holed.  Depending upon the number of teams involved, at least one team
is eliminated on each hole until the last team standing.

The winning team for the last Derby of 2017 is:

Sam Murad and Dennis Bourdreau
